I’ve got you covered with this handy list of websites you can swipe high quality, totally free stock photos for your business website, blog or even your next PowerPoint presentation! Because even you know, swiping them off Google Images is not only not cool but also a breach of copyright!
Moose – Moose is a free and premium stock photos library that offers images on all popular subjects, including people, animals, nature, sports, and many more. Simply do your search and free ones are marked as «free» and always come first in search results! #Winning!
Libre Stock – This little gem of a website searches a whopping 47 of the best free stock photo site in one hit! However, once you find your dream image, make sure you double check the licence as each individual image’s terms of use can vary.
Pixel Mob – This stock photo search engine is a little like Pinterest for stock photos! Searching millions of photos from all the top stock free and premium photo sources this little website will save you a bunch of precious time!
Pexels – With over 25,000 free stock photos and 3,000 being added each month, it is hard to bypass Pexels for free stock photos. AND….all high quality stock photos on their website are licenced under Creative Commons Zero (CC0)! WIN!
Pixabay – Another very legit source for free stock photos is Pixabay. They have over 850,000 free stock photos, vectors, art illustrations and videos available for download and all are licenced under Creative Commons Zero (CC0). YES!
StockSnap.io – Created by the guys over at Snappa.io, StockSnap is another very worthy website in the free stock photography game. And again, all stock photos uploaded to the website are released under Creative Commons Zero (CC0).
Gratisography – Gratisography shouts from their homepage that they provide free high-resolution pictures you can use on your personal and commercial projects. The images are unique and colourful which is awesome for free stock photography. However, please triple check the licence for each individual image when using this site.
Dreamstime Free Collection – Yep, you are correct, Dreamstime is a paid stock photography site but they also have a surprisingly large collection of high resolution Royalty-Free and public domain (CC0) images too! Check it out!
ISO Republic – Founded in 2014 by Tom Eversley, ISO Republic is another great resource for free stock photos. The photos on this website are free to use for both personal and commercial purposes but please check their Terms page for further information regarding licencing.
UnSplash – This little gem of a website is very popular throughout the Internet and for very good reason. UnSplash offers a wide range of free (do whatever you want) high resolution images for download. Highly recommended. As a quick sidenote – Unsplash and Instasize have also recently partnered up and now offer 2 million visuals for you to use free of charge directly within the Instasize app! Pikwizard – Pikwizard currently houses over 100,000 completely free images but their ultimate goal is to reach 1 million images! WHA!? Pikwixard also has a bunch of photos with people in them which is pretty rare when it comes to free stock photos. Check ’em out!
Negative Space – Negative Space is another good resource to browse for free, high-quality images. Most of the photos available seem to be quite minimal and general in nature making them easy to edit and manipulate to blend in with your brand’s look and feel.
Life of Pix – Life of Pix was created by a guy named Leeroy and offers a good range of high quality stock photos for free download. If you feel like a distraction, check out Leeroy’s portfolio website (click on his name at the bottom of the page) for some fun web effects.
Burst by Shopify – This free stock photography website has been designed and developed by Shopify. The images available on this site seem to be of good quality and a little different from the everyday images you see around the Internet. The website it quite new so keep a close eye on this one as I think it will be an excellent source once it has had a little more time to grow.
Reshot – Reshot is a curated gallery of authentic stock photos that are free to use to elevate your next creative project. They aim to provide creatives in need of visual content, a place to freely explore and license some of the world’s best imagery. No credit necessary and free for use in both commercial and non-commercial projects. Plus, Reshot has just added over 35,000 free SVG icons to their library. You can design freely with instant downloads, commercial licenses and no attribution required.
PicJumbo – Started in 2013 by Viktor Hanacek, PicJumbo offers a wide range of high quality images available for free download. Over 4.5 million photos have been downloaded since the site began which shows just how great PicJumbo is.
Kaboompics – Kaboom Pics is another great option for free stock photography. Created by a designer from Poland this site has a wide range of images that covers fashion, food and drink, architecture, nature and much more.
LibreShot – Not to be confused with LibreStock, LibreShot is a great resource for a wide range of free photos including crisp architectural shots right through to vibrant florals. Just be sure to double check the photo licence to make sure your all ok in the copyright arena.
SplitShire – Created by Daniel Nanescu, SplitShire is another great resource for free stock photography. Make sure you take a look at the Top Best Photos to see the latest and greatest SplitShire has to offer.
Albumarium – If you need a general sort of image, Albumarium may work for you. The site offers a range of free stock photos organised in albums.
Good Free Photos – The creator of Good Free Stock Photos contacted me asking to be added to this extensive list and I was happy to oblige. The website includes over 20,000 categorised photos mostly by location. Some other categories include state and national parks, national landmarks and historical sites as well as business, tech, animal, plant and food photos.
Nappy – Looking for a bit of diversity in your stock images? Nappy has you covered with beautiful photos of Black and Brown people, for free. For commercial and personal use. Be sure to share this website with your friends to get the word out about this awesome resource!
Pixelied – A totes cool kid and co-founder named Dawood contacted me to let me know about their new website Pixelied. It’s super helpful for all those business peeps who just need a handy tool to design a graphic to accompany their Facebook or Instagram post or need to edit an image quick smart. Pixelied also includes millions of royalty-free stock photos with no restrictions on usage rights! Winning!
StockVault – Photographers and artists share their own photos and artwork from all over the world on StockVault. They even have a selection of free textures available for download.
Free Nature Stock – Probably pretty self explanatory but this free stock photography site specialises in nature photography. Some of the top keywords searched on this library include stars, mountains and sunsets.
Stock Up – Stock Up is another index for free stock photography to save you a bunch of time. It indexes 14,921 photo across 28 different free stock photography websites. When you find a photo you like it’ll shoot you across to the website the image is from so you can check the licensing and the legals before downloading.
Good Stock Photos – Created by a guy named Steven, Good Stock Photos is an index for all the photos Steven takes and he provides them free for your to use. I think Steven is a good guy, don’t you!
Free Stock Photos by Canva – I’m sure you’ve already heard of Canva but if you haven’t it is a very popular online graphic design tool for people who aren’t designers! They now have a library of stock photos to choose from and you can access the free ones via this link.
Vecteezy – I bet you’re thinking, why does this blog post include Vecteezy... don’t they just deal with just vectors? Well, apparently they’ve now branched out into stock photos. While they have some paid options they still have some free images in their directory so be sure to check Vecteezy out!
Freepik Stock Photos – If you’ve been around the Internet for a while you’ve probably seen or heard of the powerhouse that is Freepik for all things graphic design. Well, they also have a free collection of images available for download. However, they do require attribution so keep that in mind if you do use images from this resource. Hot tip… be sure to tick on ‘Free’ in the search filter menu so you only see the free images when searching.
Barn Images – Launched in March 2015, Barn Images was created by Igor and Roman who are two photographers from Latvia. The images on their website are fresh, clean and of professional quality. Oh and fun fact… they don’t actually have any images of Barns on their site. Hmm.
Looking Glass – Founded in January 2016, Looking Glass is a free stock photography website created by a bunch of Australian creatives who were kind enough to share their unused photos to others who needed them. There is great variety in genres on this website, highly recommended.
Bucketlistly Photos – If you are into travel or blog about travel this one is for you! Bucketlistly Photos catalogues over 5,000 free creative commons photos from all over the world that anyone can use. You can even choose to filter by country!
Fancy Crave – Igor Ovsyannykov reckons that people are tired of cheesy stock photos… I reckon he’s pretty on the money! So, he created Fancy Crave which houses images that are authentic, emotionally driven, and tell a story… oh, and also FREE to download! Awesome work Igor, you rock!
Exposure – Exposure free Stock Image Search tool was created by Chris Wagner of HostingPill to help people search for free stock images from one place, thus saving time and effort. Check out Exposure today for convenient and fast photo searching!
Designer Pics – Designer Pics is another small library of free stock photos available for download. Created by Jeshu John from southern India, Designer Pics is a collection of his personal snaps ready for you to download fo’ free!
Finda Photo – Finda Photo isn’t a stock photo resource as such but it makes it super easy to search a bunch of other popular free stock photography websites from one simple website. It allows you to search by keyword, source, colour and collection… much like Google for free stock photos!
Splashbase – Splashbase is another great free stock photo search engine. It houses both images and video and has a great interface so everything is easy to find and navigate.
Foodies Feed – Can you guess what this website is all about? Yep, you guessed it… free images of food! I thought this one would good to include as the final entry coz after all that searching and looking for the perfect image you’ve got to have worked up an appetite, right!? Enjoy!! ?
